Denial of the 8A SBA narrative: Its causes and reasons

If you are preparing to submit an 8A certification application, you must take into consideration few probable reasons which can lead to immediate rejection or denial of your narrative. Approval of SBA narrative successfully, demands careful evaluation of certain factors to avoid any errs.

Often applicants of 8A SBA complain about rejection of the application. If your 8A application got rejected due to economic or social disadvantage narrative, do not be discouraged. Though more than thousands of 8A certified firms are currently operating in the business world, getting an organization certified successfully is still considered to be a hefty task. One of the biggest complications that arise during preparing of SBA application is while penning down your narrative according to the SBA standards.

The narrative that you require to prepare is determined on the basis of the owner of the business organization. For instance, you narrative must strictly adhere to economic disadvantage if you are a designated minority. Furthermore, your narrative should prove successfully both economical and social disadvantage if you are a non-designated minority, woman or a service disabled veteran. If in case, your business organization is managed and controlled by more than one owner, separate narrative from each and everyone is required. You can select one category, if you are a woman or a minority.

Generally, the narrative for 8A SBA gets rejected due to few specific reasons including:

Lack of updated information about the experience

Often SBA narratives get rejected due to the absence of first hand and latest account of your experience which can authenticate the occurrence of such events. To add more credibility to your narrative, ask former employees, staff members, or managers who bear witness to your discrimination at work place to pen down statements explaining the incident in detail. This will add reliability to your narrative.

Inadequate information

It is often seen that applicants offer less or incomplete information in the “tell your story” section”. Make sure that your narrative is at least 5-9 pages long that provide a complete detailed description about yourself. Though, no specific instruction has been given by the SBA related to the span of the narratives, it is highly recommended that your narrative should be more than few paragraphs. This will help the SBA to get a thorough idea about you.

Narratives that lack information about career and education

It is quite likely that you may include only your aspect towards your life in your narrative and fail to mention essential information related to career, education and business history. If your narrative lacks the detail description of how you have experienced the discrimination, how you have been refrained from obtaining education or how you have been abstained from working in big companies to build your career, your narrative may not be accepted. So make sure to include career, education and business aspects in your narrative to make it more convincing.

Failure to mention extended documentation or specific details

A number of 8A SBA application lack legal documentation to support their narrative. This leads to rejection and dismissal. It is highly recommended that you arrange documents related to harassment and discrimination and include them in printed form to help your narrative get submitted successfully.
